The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue are collaborating on an impactful initiative called “Fashion For Our Future” to boost voter engagement as November’s presidential election approaches. Scheduled for September 6, coinciding with the first day of New York Fashion Week, this non-partisan march aims to unite over 1,000 professionals from the fashion industry, including designers, models, and influencers.
Anna Wintour, Vogue’s chief content officer, emphasized the significance of this election on future policies, stating, “Nothing could be more important than participating in it by voting.” The march will take place in midtown Manhattan, promoting the essential role of political participation. Additionally, the non-profit group “I am a voter” will assist attendees in registering and disseminate vital voting information.
Participation in this initiative reflects the growing trend among brands to engage socially by contributing to political awareness. Old Navy will provide stylish T-shirts and dresses for participants, further linking fashion and civic duty. This push for voter participation highlights the industry’s responsibility to influence larger societal issues. With this campaign, both the CFDA and Vogue reinforce their commitment to shaping a more informed and active electorate.
