Labrum London will design Arsenal’s 2024/25 away kit, a landmark collaboration between fashion and football. Founded by Sierra-Leonian-born Foday Dumbuya in 2014, Labrum becomes the first independent designer to create an on-field jersey for a Premier League team. This significant partnership highlights the increasing fusion of fashion and sports.
Dumbuya, a devoted Arsenal fan, was selected for his alignment with Arsenal and Adidas’s shared values. Historically, Arsenal led in celebrating African diaspora players in the Premier League during the 80s and 90s, which left a lasting impression on Dumbuya.
The new away kit features the Pan-African flag colors—red, black, and green—alongside Labrum’s distinctive zig-zag patterns symbolizing migration, a recurring theme in Dumbuya’s designs. Featuring the “Nomoli” figure hallmark of Labrum, the kit extends beyond just the jersey to include training jackets, a T-shirt, sweater, and track pants.
Top Arsenal players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, along with women’s team leaders Kim Little and Leah Williamson, modelled the new gear in the launch campaign.
The collaboration between Labrum and Adidas is not new. They have previously partnered for several seasons, including a notable moment when Arsenal icon Ian Wright showcased a Labrum-designed hat at the brand’s AW24 show.
Labrum will also outfit Team Sierra Leone for the forthcoming Olympic games, demonstrating the brand’s expanding influence in sports attire design.
With such high-profile endorsements and innovative design, this initiative is poised to resonate well with both football fans and fashion enthusiasts.
