French luxury conglomerate Kering has appointed Ewa Abrams as president of its Americas division, succeeding Laurent Claquin, who recently became chief brand officer at the group level. Abrams brings extensive experience from her 17-year tenure at Tiffany & Co., where she forged a notable career before joining Kering Americas as general counsel in 2018.
As the new president, Abrams will report to deputy CEO Jean-Marc Duplaix. Her leadership comes at a strategic time for Kering’s Americas division, which plays a vital role in the group’s recovery strategy following significant sales growth in the region post-pandemic. This surge led Kering to expand its footprint with new stores in key markets such as Miami and Nashville.
Underlining the importance of the Americas, Kering’s top brands—Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta—achieved sales of approximately €4.5 billion ($4.9 billion) last year, up from €3 billion in 2019. Despite this growth, the group faced a 10 percent decline in overall revenue in the first quarter, intensifying the urgency to revitalize Gucci, its flagship label, after a period of stagnant sales.
This transition marks a critical phase for Kering as it navigates the complexities of market dynamics and investor expectations, underscoring the need for impactful leadership to sustain and amplify the company’s momentum in the Americas.
